Yauco musical band wins three awards in competition in Orlando, Florida

After 11 months of preparation, the school band Yauco, was awarded three prizes last June 1 at the International Band Competition, ““Orlando’s Premier Music Festival”, held in the City of orlando, Florida, where they competed against 12 musical groups.

The band, which is made up of students from public and private schools in the municipality of Yauco between the ages of 11 and 18, received awards from first place in “Field show”, “Marcha” and the most important prize in the “Grand Champion Instrumental” competition, Orlando reported Rivera, who led the band. In the different categories, where they ranked first, pieces such as “El Cumbachero”, “Lamento Borincano” by Rafael Hernandez, “Bakiriba” by Plenealo and classic marches by Karl King by Cesar Concepcion were presented.

On the other hand, Rivera also commented how delighted the competition judges were with the island’s cultural music and the passionate way it was performed by each of the young people.
