Apart from ratifying the Puerto Rican delegation, a vote was also held for the Republican presidential candidate, in which the former president prevailed. Donald J. Trump as sole candidate. In this case, an open election was not held because the Republican already has more than half of the votes at the United States level, so his nomination is already assured, although it must be ratified at the national convention, indicated the president of the party in Puerto Rico, Angel Cintron
“It is a delegation that has 20 full members, 20 alternate members and three automatic members who are those of us who are permanent members of the RNC at the national level, who are the lawyer (Zoraida) Fonalledas, the former governor (Luis) Fortuno and this humble servant as president, committeewoman and committeemanfor a total of 23 votes, which is what Puerto Rico has at the national level.”Cintron said.
The Republican leader highlighted that “with those 23 votes, Puerto Rico is treated as if it were a state of the union before this national convention.”
77% of the 1,340 delegates or members of the board of directors of the municipal and district committees of the party at the local level participated in the caucus election.
